Command Ops 2: Rescuing Cavalry

Yes sir, troopers need to be rescued sometimes too.

In this scenario, US Cavalry (brown icons) is caught off guard along the 25 km front held by the 7th US Armored Division. In this screenshot, fallschirmjägers are swarming north along the road network in the town of Ospel (Holland).
This is from a game I played as the Allies against the computer. The game is Command Ops-Westwall and the scenario is "Counterstroke in the Swamp". Massive spoilers warning.

Combat Mission Game Engine 4

I didn't see this one coming, but it arrived yesterday and I am so excited to see two particular improvements to the virtual tactical combat world of Combat Mission.

Russian infantry treating a building corner with great respect and appreciation: the new update features an automatic "peeking around corners" which allows a careful recon in the unforgiving urban environment. From Combat Mission Black Sea.

DCS Mi-8 - Finally in Release/Final Status

This wonderful chopper has been in beta status for a long time (3.5 years or so). It was recently released in final form, along with a very detailed manual.

I took it for a victory lap around Batumi airport. I wanted to see those door gunners in action (one left door, one rear window).

Strategic Command WWII: War in Europe - Review

It's simple but deep. It is a game for the 21st century but designed with solid, good, old principles. Its gameplay flows unrestricted, seamlessly across several strategic aspects but invites and rewards a deep exploration of many factors involved in waging a global scale war. It's hex-based but devoid of many board games' antics.

Infantry Guns - Graviteam Tactics: Drive on Voronezh

Past noon and its after taste of half-eaten food. It's almost like you can feel the exhaustion and dropping morale of my German soldiers. Determined to end the day with a solid foothold on Shilovo, a renewed attack on the town is carefully planned.

Flashpoint Latvia Episode 7 - Steel Beasts ProPE - Hit and Run

This narrative is fictional. No political point is intended.

D-day. The Russian mechanized brigades have crossed the border at Morozovka and Terehova. The Russian spearheads inexplicably paused for one hour just a few kilometers after the crossing. There was no real opposition from the Latvian National Armed Forces, just a few incidents with civilians throwing harmless household projectiles at the Russians. The Russian soldiers endured this with remarkable stoicism. It was clear this was not the Russian Army of yesteryear. Professionals, very conscious of their relationship with civilians.
